Innovative development
Development name: System for determining the breeding value of pigs using linear models.
Brief content of the development and advantage over existing analogues: The implementation of this development will allow to move to a qualitatively new level of evaluation of pigs and in the future will ensure improvement of the economic efficiency of the pig farming industry as a whole. The system provides for the collection of breeding and zootechnical information about each animal in electronic form, the formation of an electronic database, the determination of the breeding value of pigs taking into account the productivity of all known related animals, the adoption of breeding decisions and the carrying out of breeding work taking into account the evaluation results. Methodological recommendations for this development have been reviewed and approved by the Research and Development Committee of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine.
From the implementation of this development in various breeding farms, an additional 239 UAH was received per farrowing. of net profit and 29.1 - 316.4 UAH were additionally received per head of repair young animals. net profit (the level of the economic effect depends on the accuracy of the pedigree accounting in the farm).
