Abstract

Goal. To assess the plasticity and stability o f the reproductive capacity o f sows o f the main families in Landrace and Welsh breeds. Methods. The researches were conducted on sows o f the main herd o f successive generations o f Landrace and Welsh breeds on the basis o f LLC "FG Shubske " o f Bohodukhiv district and LLC "Ahrofirma Khlibne " o f Loziv district o f Kharkiv region. The reproductive capacity o f sows according to the main lines and families o f Landrace and Welsh breeds was studied according to the following indexes: fertility, heads, number o f live piglets per farrowing, weight o f the litter at birth, weight o f the litter at weaning. On the basis o f absolute indexes, an index fo r evaluating the reproductive capacity o f sows - SIVYAS - was calculated. Environmental factors were the year (generation o f animals), genetic factors were the influence o f lineages and families. The ecological plasticity was considered to be the average reaction o f the breed to changes in factors (r), and stability was considered to be the deviation o f productivity indexes from the herd average (62). The assessment was carried out in three stages. A t the first stage, the fact o f interaction between genotype and factor was checked using the variance analysis method. A t the second stage, quantitative determination o f plasticity and stability parameters was carried out. The third stage is the interpretation o f evaluations. The stability was defined as the mean square deviation from the regression lines, the plasticity o f the feature, as the coefficient o f regression o f the feature on the influence o f factors. The research results were processed using the traditional method o f variational statistics. The results. The analysis o f the level o f reproductive qualities o f Landrace and Welsh sows during the evaluated period indicates a gradual increase in the level o f indexes for both breeds. According to the results o f a comprehensive assessment o f the reproductive qualities ofsows, three families with the highest values o f this index were identified for the Landrace breed and four families for the Welsh breed, respectively. The analysis o f the obtained data on the Landrace breed proved the least influence o f the surrounding environment on the three families. Three families from among the evaluated ones are the most suitable for obtaining cross-breeding young animals according to indexes o f ecological plasticity and stability o f the reproductive capacity, and accordingly will provide a high level o f genetic potential for their use in the commercial orientation o f pig breeding. According to the Welsh breed, five families had the least influence o f the surrounding environment. Among the evaluated genealogical units o f the Welsh breed, the majority o f families are suitable for obtaining local repair young animals according to indexes o f ecological plasticity and stability o f the reproductive capacity. Conclusions. As a result o f the assessment ofplasticity and stability according to the reproductive capacity o f sows o f the main families in the Landrace and Welsh breeds, the perspective o f further selection work according to this group o f indexess fo r both breeds was determined, however, regarding the perspective o f using sows o f certain families to further obtain highproductive cross-breeding based on indexes o f plasticity and stability on different families. In the Landrace breed, the most promising sows that can be involvedfor further obtaining highly productive local breeding include animals o f the families Vyhivka, Skomorokha and Yavcha. According to the Welsh breed, the animals o f the Emma, Gloria, Impousyn, Like Gjorl and Yuni families are respectively.
