Abstract

Goal. The evaluation o f indexes o f reproductive qualities o f sows and boars o f the Large White breed o f pigs in the SE "EE" Im. 9 Sichnia" in order to improve their reproductive qualities. Methods. The study was carried out in the conditions o f the farm o f the State Enterprise "EE" im. 9 Sichnia" o f the Poltava region. The object o f the study were boars and sows o f the Large White breed. The reproductive qualities o f sows were studied taking into account the following indexes: the number o f piglets born, including live ones, the weight o f the litter at weaning at 60 days and the average weight o f 1 piglet at weaning. Data on the reproductive qualities o f 100 sows were collected, a certain number o f sows had data from the last farrowing, but no data after weaning piglets. On the basis o f absolute indexes, an index fo r evaluating the reproductive capacity o f sows was calculated - SIVYAS (breeding index o f reproductive capacity (reproductive qualities) o f sows). The results. The analysis o f the productivity indexes o f sows depending on the serial number o f the farrowing proved that in terms o f fertility, the number o f piglets at weaning, sows with the 5th serial number o f farrowing had the best values, at the same time, they were inferior in terms o f the average weight o f 1 piglet at weaning, unlike sows with the 2 nd serial number o f the farrowing, which had the largest weight. In terms o f litter weight at weaning, the sow with the 3rd order number o f the farrowing had the best productivity. We analyzed, structured, and systematized data on the productivity o f sows by family. Based on the results, it can be concluded that there is a certain genetic consolidation o f the herd, since there is no big difference in productivity between families. Only in terms o f the number o f piglets at birth was there a significant difference between the Snizhynka fam ily (the highest number in the herd) and the Taiha fam ily (the lowest number in the herd). The influence o f boars on the reproductive qualities o f sows was also evaluated. Based on the obtained data, it is possible to select boars to improve the productivity according to specific indexes and build a plan fo r selecting boars fo r sows. Thus, sows mated with boars o f the line No. 107 had the best indexes o f reproductive qualities, and boars o f lines No. 129 and No. 341 had the lowest indicators. Conclusions. The analysis o f the average values o f the productivity indexes o f sows proved that according to the multifertility index, they correspond to the I and II class, and according to the weight o f the litter at weaning, they are elite and I class, according to the pig grading instructions. Accordingly, special attention should be paid to improving the fertility rate.
