The team of the Institute of Pig Breeding and APV of the National Academy of Sciences sincerely congratulates the Director, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor Vasyl Mykhailovych Voloshchuk!

 

On November 10, 2016, at the General Assembly of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine, Vasyl Mykhailovych Voloshchuk was elected a Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

Vasyl Mykhailovych Voloshchuk was born on August 22, 1957 in the village of Seredy, Yemilchyn district, Zhytomyr region. In 1972, he graduated from the 8th grade of the Kiyan secondary school of the Yemilchyna district and entered the Rogachy-Volyn zootechnical technical school, which he graduated in 1976. After graduating from the zootechnical school, he started working as a senior zootechnician at the "Mayak" collective farm of the Red Army district of the Zhytomyr region. From May 1976 to May 1978, he served in the ranks of the Soviet Army. From 1978 to 1983, he studied at the Ukrainian Agricultural Academy of the Order of Labor Red Banner, which he graduated with honors. After graduation, he worked at the Kyiv Research Station of Onion Growing as a zootechnician in fodder production. Breeder, chief zootechnician. From 1987 to 1990, he studied at the graduate school of the Poltava Research Institute of Pig Breeding, after which he worked as a junior researcher in the Department of Animal Hygiene and Technology. Since 1991, he worked at the National University of Bioresources and Nature Management of Ukraine in the positions of assistant, associate professor, deputy director of the institute and head of the department of technologies and economics of pig and sheep breeding products, professor of the department of technologies of economics and management of this scientific institution.

In 1992, he defended his candidate's thesis on the topic: "Evaluation and improvement of various methods of raising and fattening young pigs."

From 2004 to 2007, he studied for a doctorate. In 2008, he defended his doctoral dissertation on the specialty 06.02.04 "Technology of production of livestock products" on the topic: "Theoretical justification and creation of competitive pork production technologies." In 2014, he received the academic title of professor.

Since 2011, V.M. Voloshchuk has been appointed to the position of director of the Institute of Pig Breeding and Agro-Industrial Production of the National Academy of Sciences, where he is still working.

V. M. Voloshchuk is a leading scientist in the field of pig breeding. Thanks to his initiative work, the principles for the implementation of the reconstruction of pig farms for 20-100, 300, 600, 1200 sows, which are offered for use in small, medium and large farms of Ukraine, were substantiated and developed, which helps to improve the culture of pork production and increase the productivity of animals by 18 -20% A significant achievement of his scientific work is the improvement of the methodology of calculations of the main elements of stream production of pork and the design of pig premises and the development of algorithms of relevant computer programs, which are recommended for use both in production and in agricultural educational institutions of the III and IV levels of accreditation. The technologies and technological solutions developed by him have been implemented in more than 40 pork production projects in 8 regions of different regions of Ukraine (Odessa, Kherson, Vinnytsia, Volyn, Chernihiv, Kyiv, Cherkasy, Khmelnytsky).

V.M. Voloshchuk takes an active part in the development of national programs for the development of pig farming in Ukraine. Works on construction and reconstruction projects of modern pig farms, 4 of which have passed state examination and are put into production. He is the author of more than 200 scientific works, including 4 monographs and 5 textbooks. Has more than 50 patents and copyright certificates. Works on improvement, development and implementation of modern pork production technologies.

V. M. Voloshchuk is a highly qualified, experienced scientist and proactive manager. Under his leadership, more than 20 master's graduation theses were prepared and defended in the specialty technology of production and processing of animal husbandry products, as well as 9 candidate's and 1 doctoral theses were defended.
